 Story of How the company Began here 

Lars and Linda Pettersson founded the company in 1991. They started building their own house first and quickly found out that there was very high interest in the type of low-energy and later passive houses, which the company provides.

James Kearney, Peter Flaherty and John Goaley were part of the Scandinavian Homes network nearly from the beginning. James builds all of the foundations whereas Peter & John erect the delivered houses on site and often also finish them, always to a very high standard.

In 2005 Lars and Linda built the world’s first factory built passive house nearby their home. The house was built to meet the challenging building standard for passive houses set by the German ‘Passivhaus Institut’ in Darmstadt. Since then the majority of houses sold were designed to meet this standard.

In 2006 Peter Lohr joined the company, first as an employed architect and a few years later and until today as a sub-contracting architect, responsible for all designs and planning drawings for customers.

In 2007 Mirek Pilecki and Marcin Chrusciel joined the team, manufacturing the houses in our factory in Sweden. In 2020, Mariusz Chrusciel also joined the company to increase capacity in Sweden.

In 2019, Linda and Lars’ son Nils Pettersson joined the company to support the growing demand and interest in passive houses, made in Sweden.

Since autumn 2023 Fiona Connell, who just finished building her own Scandinavian Home has joined our team.

Over the years Lars and Linda have since invested more into solar seasonal storage research to keep the company at the forefront of energy efficient design combined with comfortable living with a hint of Scandinavia.
